LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain is not willing to contest for another term in the office for which the Central Majlis-e-Shoora of the JI, is holding election in April next. Qazi Hussain has asked the Shoora not to propose his name for JI Ameer in the upcoming contest.
Talking to Private TV Channel at the opening session of the Shoora Thursday, Qazi Hussain said he performed functions of the office with the best of his abilities for twenty-two consecutive years and now his health did not permit him to carry further the burden of responsibilities.
Therefore he has urged the Shoora not to include his name among the three who are to be considered for JI Amarat for the next term. He said previously Founder JI Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi and Mian Tufail Muhammad during their respective term, had expressed their inability to continue as Amir for the reason of their health.
It may be mentioned that the JI Shoora elects its Ameer through secret balloting from among the three proposed names. The JI members of the Shoora cannot only vote for any one of the three but also for any members besides them.
End.
