Federal Minister for Railways Shaikh Rashid Ahmad has said there is no ban on return of Benzair Bhutto and she can return to her country to face cases in courts.
He said that the cases of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif are different, saying that Nawaz Sharif has gone abroad as a result of a deal with the government and Benazir is self-exiled.
When his attention was drawn towards the statement of Nawaz Sharif that he would come to his country before the general polls, Sheikh Rashid said that like his brother Shahbaz Sharif he would be also deported from airport.
To a question he said President Pervez Musharraf can take vote from the present assemblies. Describing the coming days as politically very crucial, he said the opposition still has several matters to settle.
“There are many pending cases in the Supreme Court, including dual nationality case, Madrassa degree case and several others”, he said, adding the next three months are very crucial and all the cases would be decided in the period.
About the government-PPP contact Sheikh Rashid said that contacts with the PPP has not been suspended. However, it is premature to say anything about the results.
The minister said People’s Party, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamat Ahle-e-Hadith, the MQM, the Patriots and several other parties would take part in the elections and the elections would be historic.
